Case: Patient started developing symptoms after a new crown on a tooth having had root canal treatment with silver point obturation years ago

Patient: 61-year-old female with high cholesterol (taking a statin) and depression (taking a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor)

Chief Complaint: constant tooth pain (#14 area)

Dental History: The maxillary left first molar had been endodontically treated with silver points many years ago. A crown had been placed by the referring dentist less than a year before the endodontic exam and the patient had developed severe pain the week before endodontic examination
