Description:
There is a lot of misunderstanding, skewed “science”, and misrepresentation about the facts and potential of certain materials to “grow” bone. Osseous site development in small, medium and large defects requires a deep understanding of the science for correct choices and long-term success in each and every case. Controversies still exist about which materials to use for long-term success in this regard. Grafting extraction sockets is another area of controversy that should not exist. Soft tissue site development and restorative design around dental implants are other critical components of the process that are often overlooked. These three components, when not correctly addressed, can lead to reduced potential for long-term dental implant success with the resultant compromise in outcome, subclinical infection and negative effect on our patients’ overall health. Precision-Guided 3D Implant Planning is a cutting edge development that is unfortunately misrepresented and sorely under-utilized. Advancements in this arena are exciting, as the technology surrounding these protocols has improved dramatically over the years. This presentation will help the clinician understand and navigate the pitfalls and traps of implant dentistry. Controversies and misunderstandings in the field of dental implants will be discussed with the goal of helping develop total clarity in this regard. At the conclusion of this presentation, attendees will have developed a precise and predictable protocol for implant site development, 3D CAD/CAM implant planning, precision placement and success based on the science and advancing developments in the field.
